Oak lane candle co.
Oak Lane Candle Co. is a candle studio and pour-bar located in the heart of Ames. All of their candles are 100% soy wax and all of their home-fragrance products are hand-poured right in the shop. They use fragrances that are naturally derived and synthetically safe for your family, your home, and your pets. They also offer a unique Pour Bar experience to create a custom blend for your own, one-of-a-kind candle.
Oak Lane Candle Co. has collaborated with Innovate 1858 to create the “Innovate 1858 Signature Candle”, which is a custom blended candle sold exclusively at Innovate 1858.
Horticulture club
The ISU Honey Apiary was established at the university's Horticulture Research Station, north of Ames, in 2020.
Although bees have been researched for decades at ISU, the bee program established this new apiary specifically with honey production in mind. The project received start-up funding from the office of the Dean of the College of Agriculture. For its first year, our team established and maintained 20 cardinal and gold hives at the ISU Horticulture Research Station.
The apiary also serves as a beekeeping demonstration site and a space for collaborative beekeeping research. Students are invited to the apiary as part of an undergraduate beekeeping course for hands-on beekeeping experience.
